South Australia

South Australia, and its capital city Adelaide, offers tourists a more relaxed holiday destination, with a mix of cosmopolitan Adelaide close by to the wineries of Adelaide Hills and the Glenelg beaches.

Adelaide is the largest city in South Australia with around 1.2 million residents. It is home to major educational institutions and government – and hotel prices tend to be middle of the range on Australian standards.

The tram system throughout Adelaide makes it easy to access Glenelg – the popular beachside area of Adelaide. Adelaide is a very flat city – and built in a grid system – so is easy to navigate especially if you enjoy walking or cycling. The city has a large health-care economy – and many institutions and firms employ in this industry. It is also considered an arts city – walking the streets it is easy to see the cities devotion to the arts.

The greater area of Adelaide hosts varying kinds of hotels, apartment hotels and budget accommodation all within easy proximity to the centre of downtown Adelaide and nearby Glenelg. Wherever you might decide to stay – any hotel or apartment within the map grid of the parks that surround Adelaide CBD will be an easy walking distance to many of Adelaide’s Attractions, and the Glenelg beachside suburb is just a short tram ride from the city.

The Flinders University of South Australia, The University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia are all located within Adelaide, as are many health and defence industry corporate headquarters.
