Christchurch

Christchurch, located in New Zealand’s South Island, is the third largest city in New Zealand and home to almost 400,000 people. The South Island is the most popular tourist Island of New Zealand – and Christchurch offers an excellent city entrance into the South Island via the Christchurch International airport.

 

Attractions in the city include the Christchurch Art Gallery, River Avon and TranzAlpine train to Greymouth offering spectacular mountain scenery. The natural scenery on the South Island is world renowned with snow-capped mountains and undulating terrain.

The Christchurch Gondola is one of the best ways to see Christchurch from above - including the city and the harbour. Other things to do in Christchurch include an array of thermal spas, and the district of Canterbury which has some of New Zealands best wine vineyards. Mt Cook, New Zealands highest peak, can also be found near Christchurch and is the closest city to it, being around a 4 hour drive from Christchurch city.
