Civic in Canberra is the area closest to Parliament House – and is considered the city centre area of Canberra. Civic’s major shopping centre is the Canberra Centre. Civic also hosts the Canberra Museum and Gallery, the Canberra Theatre and the National Trust of Australia.

City Walk is an open air plaza with many outdoor cafes and restaurants. Most hotels and apartments within the civic area fill with parliamentarians or business travellers – and as such they are setup to cater more for the corporate traveller.
