Events in Tasmania
An island state with much more than picturesque scenery to offer...
From the Chocolate Winterfest to drag racing, Tasmania may be small but the island state sure packs a punch. Holidays in Tasmania are typically centred around Hobart - the states capital - taking in beautiful scenery, colonial architecture, and thriving bay area with weekend markets a big draw card. Launceston, the second largest city in Tasmania, is also host to a myriad of events and activities including the annual Royal Launceston Show held in October, usually held around the same time as the Royal Hobart Show.
Every weekend in Hobart you will find Salamanca Market, a buzzing market full of antiques, books, food, coffee and bric-a-brac, with the markets right in the heart of the city down on the waterfront. Most hotels in the city are within easy walking distance, and Battery Point is only a 15 minute walk.
If it's arts and crafts, why not visit the annual Tasmanian Craft Fair, held in October and November with over 200 stalls across various venues. The show is held just near Launceston, and hotels and serviced apartments book out well in advance.
If it's opera that takes your fancy, head to Albert Hall in Launceston and see the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and one of the many performances held throughout the year. Hotels in the area are all very close to Albert Hall.
If it's Football that takes your fancy, why not catch the AFL game between North Melbourne and the Adelaide Crows in late August at Blundstone Arena in Hobart. Book your hotel, serviced apartment or lastminute hotel now!
